While the first season crammed a surplus of different plot points into far too little time, this season takes time to actually work through each storyline. Season 2 is significantly better than season 1. I was so disappointed that I actually watched the 2001 Polish version of the film on Youtube to compare the two and felt like there was far more humanity and realism in that version. Story is a mess, the writing is filled with cringe-worthy cliches and a childish view of relationships and conversations. You can tell Henry Cavil is trying his best and he seems to understand the character well, but everyone else feels like they're overacting. I've not read the books but I understand that this show is derived heavily from Slavic culture but that doesn't come across at all. Yennefer is the biggest mystery of all everyone seems to love her, but she's a horrible person. They don't understand or display much humanity.

The Witcher series looks fantastic, however the writing is horrible and feels like it's inconsistent and written by someone who has spent more time reading poetry and watching TV than actually living. The one example that continually stands out in my mind (but not the largest plot hole, by far) are the elves talking about 'Dol Blathana', and their search for it, but nobody ever explains what Dol Blathana is. There are obvious holes in the plot that leave you confused. Season two attempts to make the same type connections, while bringing in other characters. and seeing how everyone - for the most part - fit together. Season one of The Witcher had a fairly solid plot line (besides jumping around timelines without telling us), introducing Geralt, Yennifer, etc. While I think the acting was extremely well done, and the sets were incredible, the area where this show was lacking was the plot line. Why bother adapting a book series if you are going to write your own stories and characters. I decided to give s2 a chance, I did notice improvement in the visuals, the acting was good, but sadly the biggest problem of this tv series is the writing, too many plot holes that don't make sense, poor cheesy dialogues, most of the character are just simply poorly written, the whole show was a mess and feel like some teenage soap opera fantasy show.Īs for adaptation accuracy (1/10), I don't know where to start, it was a complete disaster, most of the characters are completely different from the Witcher books, they only share their names and nothing more, 80% of the show plots, stories and characters are completely made up, rewritten and to the worst. Overall a terrible experience, especially for a fan of the franchise. That would not be necessarily a bad thing, if the show hadn't made them worse in every aspect.
